GCP Makes Atlanta Acquisition

Birmingham-based Graham Commercial Properties (GCP), an industrial real estate company formed in 2013, continues to expand its Southeastern footprint by starting off 2016 with an acquisition in Atlanta. The company reinvested proceeds from the disposition of an Alabama property into a new strategically selected primary market. The Atlanta acquisition, GCP’s first in the state of Georgia, will serve to further geographically diversify the company’s portfolio of industrial properties now located in Alabama, Georgia, Florida and North Carolina.

GCP entered the Atlanta market by acquiring a 209,780 square foot industrial distribution center located at 1040 Southern Road. The 10 acre site on which the warehouse sits is served by Norfolk Southern rail access, which was a deciding factor for the current tenant, M & W Distribution Services.

Gardner Lee, President of GCP, describes the purchase as follows, “we saw the opportunity to enter the Atlanta industrial market through an investment in a quality property with a solid tenant with whom we felt we could build a relationship. The I-75 Atlanta corridor is one of GCP’s tier one targets, and this investment aligns with our core growth strategy in the Atlanta area.”
It is expected that 2016 will be marked by continued growth as GCP leadership will aggressively seek out value-add investment deals like the Southern Road Atlanta transaction.
